Get Certified Funds

Most closing agents require a certified or cashier's check; you get either of these from your bank. Find out to whom the check should be made payable -- the seller or settlement agent, for example. Get the amount you need from the closing statement you requested in step 23. Take your check book to closing also in case there are any miscellaneous items which pop up. You can use a personal check for small amounts.
